Name: Emme Hall
Birthplace: CA
Hometown: Hacienda Heights
Current home: Washington, DC
Age: Oh jeez I don't know. 27? 39? I forget.
Nickname: Monkey
Do/did you get flack from the guys you race against? Or have the guys always accepted you as a female in your series?
I've gotten good natured ribbing, sure. But I'm very adept at throwing it back at them. I've always said that it doesn't take an exorbitant amount of upper body strength or a penis to drive a car. That usually shuts up any jerks. It also helps that I am tall and my short hair is usually pink or purple or something and I'm a fairly confident person. I don't come off as your average woman. So no, the guys don't give me any shit.
What advice would you give to someone or a team wanting to get into Racing?: Just jump into it. There is no "perfect" time to start. My situation is far from perfect. I live on the East coast but all my races are on the west coast. I don't have a lot of money and I am mostly self funded, so I find ways to save money. I'm nice to people, I help out when I can, I listen to everyone, and I'll drive anything someone lets me drive. Just be willing to do what you have to do.

What would be your last meal? Mexican food and chocolate chip cookies.

What do you do for your 9-5? I'm the costume manager at Ford's Theatre in Washington DC. I manage all aspects of the costume department. Basically the designer draws the pretty pictures, then I make it happen, either by pulling the clothes from stock, renting them, or arranging for them to be built, either locally or in New York.

I also review new cars for Roadfly TV. We are the fourth largest car review channel on You Tube. It's really fun and I get to drive some awesome cars! I've had the Subie WRX, Mustang Boss, Audi A6, Jaguar XK Convertible…I get paid and I get a free tank of gas!

Nothing makes driver Emme Hall happier than climbing behind the wheel of any air cooled VW desert racer and pinning it. In addition to driving for Hall Ass Racing, she is also an occasional guest driver and co-driver with Desert Dingo Racing in their Class 11 VW. She is one half of Team Courage Gazelles and is currently preparing for the 2012 Rallye Aicha des Gazelles, a 9 day all female rally through the grueling terrain of Morocco using only a compass and an outdated map. She can think of nothing more awesome!

Evoking a high energy personality with a determined disposition, she earned 2nd in class with the Dingos at this year’s USA 500 and first in class at the recent 24 hour endurance race with VORRA. She is the current record holder at the Buffalo Peak hill climb in Colorado, co-driving for JT Taylor in an ultra-4. For the past two years Emme has driven in the annual Powder Puff race in Barstow to raise money for Cedar Sinai Breast Cancer Research Center. She’s finished 4th and 2nd in class, but unfortunately was DNF this past year with a broken torsion bar.

Emme has been featured in Dirt Sports, Dusty Times, S&S Off Road Magazine, Dirt Newz, Race Dezert, Moto IQ and Gearbox Magazine. She also blogs for Female Racing News. Emme holds an MFA in Costume Technology from North Carolina School of the Arts and is also a graduate of Yale School of Drama. She lives in Washington DC and works as the Costume Director at Ford’s Theatre when she isn’t reviewing new cars for Roadfly TV, the fourth largest car review channel on You Tube. She autocrosses her 2nd generation Mazda Miata whenever she can.
