Is Homosexuality Normal

Being homosexual means having strong sexual feelings for a person of the same sex. Most scientists believe that homosexuality is a normal variation in sexual orientation. During adolescence you may find yourself attracted to a person of the same sex even if you are heterosexual. This does not necessarily mean that you will be gay.

Even though times are changing, realizing that you are gay can cause a great deal of anxiety. You may feel different and alone and afraid to tell anyone. Our society still shows prejudice against homosexuals. The best thing to do is to find support.

There are many support groups where homosexuals can share their feelings and experiences. Call one of the phone numbers listed under the gay and lesbian section in the hotlines and Web sites list for teens for help in finding a local support group that can provide an open environment for you to talk about your sexuality with other gay people. Your doctor may also be someone you can talk to.
