News  17 Year Old, Jessica Dana is Competing in the “Biggest Race on the West Coast” Washington’s 17 year old racing sensation has entered her second season of racing in the Nascar Super Late Model Series, and is announcing today that she will be competing with the Dana Commercial Super Late Model Race Car, in the 200 lap, Summer Showdown at Evergreen Speedway; Monroe, Washington, on June 29th and the 30th, 2012. With just 14 races under her belt, the Super Speedway of the West will be Jessica’s first experience with speeds approaching 150 mph and first ever experience on the 5/8 mile track. “I loved the track and the people at Evergreen,” said Jessica, after her first ever appearance this year at Evergreen, on the 3/8 mile track. Jessica and fellow teenage female racer Molly Helmuth were pole and outside pole respectively on the second main event of the night, to the crowd’s delight. For the first time in the history of Evergreen Speedway, two women competed in the region’s top class. Jessica’s father and JDR’s team manager, Troy Dana said “We are excited about the Summer Show Down. Doug Hobbs and his team at Evergreen Speedway put on a great race. Our expectations are fairly modest at this point, given the caliber of the teams who have already signed up for the event. Our biggest concern is for safety given the increased speed, the 40 mile per hour Karts, from a year ago, were a lot less stressful,” (Troy Dana, 2012).
